Job description
The Glasgow School of Art (GSA) is a world leading, independent, university-level institution for the visual creative disciplines. We attract some of the finest academic and creative talent and are committed to creating and sustaining learning and working environments, where difference is respected and the widest possible range of cultural and social perspectives are valued.
Applications are invited for a Lecturer in Environmental and Ecological Design (1.0 FTE) in the Innovation School based at our Highlands & Islands Campus in Forres.
Our Masters in Design Innovation & Environmental Design is located on our Forres campus (close to both Aberdeen and Inverness) in a beautiful rural setting, and is growing rapidly.
Consequently, we are seeking a talented designer/academic with an interest in Environmental Design, to help us develop this area of evolving practice.
The successful candidate will bring enthusiasm to the intellectual development of Environmental Design as an academic subject and inspire students to generate design explorations around the practice.
In addition, the role offers the opportunity to shape the evolution of the subject as it is taught within the Innovation School.
We are seeking a candidate who can lead explorations of change in the built and non-built environment. Using design led research to explore sustainable, regenerative responses to the climate emergency and its impact on community, places and spaces.
The role will primarily focus upon teaching approaches to Design Innovation and Environment to Masters level students, although a wider engagement with the student body is anticipated. The successful candidate will play a leading role in the intellectual development and teaching of Environmental Design and will help faculty and students explore the “near or next future” through the use of design as a mode of enquiry.
