Still family owned and run, we have evolved from simply fabricating conveyoring systems, to manufacturing and supplying high quality precision equipment, state-of-the-art software and intuitive control systems for materials handling equipment specifically for the global corrugated packaging market. Due to continuing growth in the business we are now seeking a Sales Designer to be part of the ongoing success of Avanti Conveyors.
We are based in Furness Vale in a converted dye mill set on the edge of the village close to the Peak Forest Canal. We are positioned within walking distance of Furness Vale train station and a short walk from bus routes.
JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY:
To plan, manage and co-ordinate the engineering team’s activities to ensure all design engineering support functions are in place and happening, to enable an excellent response to engineering and installation issues in accordance with Avanti standards of service to customers, to a budget and to fit with the business plan.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- To support the response to Engineering ECR’s (Engineering Compliance Reports) to ensure they are undertaken effectively and permanently addressed.
- To give an overview to and provide support for the engineering department to ensure that all projects are undertaken in a timely and professional manner.
- To support the team of Project Managers, providing engineering support to ensure that every project can be delivered to a KPI of “OTIF” (On Time and In Full).
- Ensure that any engineering or technical enquiries are responded to in a timely and professional manner.
- On a continuing personal development level (CPD), to seek to improve in all engineering aspects of the projects and installations (i.e customer focus, customer care, support of the project management team, effectiveness of the installation processes etc.) to the ultimate goal of “Prompt Project Sign-off”.
- To work safely at all times and to promote good health and safety practise within the business.
- To balance resources within the design engineering team.
- To support the drive for continuous improvement in product design, engineering design, product build and installation through our Avanti feedback system (ECR’s).
- Manage the engineering “balance” during the design process.
- To undertake CAD design of and drawing release for equipment and systems in line with business needs.
PERSONAL PROFILE:
- Proven experience of working within an engineering environment.
- Experienced in the use of CAD products to both design and review engineered parts, assemblies, and systems.
- Excellent people skills.
- Strong technical, administrative and co-ordination skills with demonstrable organisational and time-management skills ensuring the ability to prioritise effectively.
- Confidence, enthusiasm, self-motivation and determination.
- Ability to deal with complex and concurrent engineering tasks, identifying the priorities and delivering against those tasks to a known timetable and budget.
- Appropriate commercial engineering experience (ideally 3 years +) in a small to medium sized engineering and / or packaging organisation.
- A good business acumen, numerate and commercially aware.
- Clear communication skills at all stakeholder levels, verbal and electronic.
- Attention to detail - accurate and methodical in work. Will see the job through to time and to budget.
- Calm, reliable, trustworthy, unflappable, and cheerful.
- In-depth knowledge of the machine engineering market.
- A full UK driving licence.
