We’re focused on developing world-leading, next generation power and propulsion technology. But while our reputation as innovators in defence aerospace underpins everything we do, it’s our people who keep us at the forefront of discovery. This is your chance to be part of it.

Defence Future Programmes is where we develop cutting edge defence aviation solutions, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible to power next generation air combat systems, like Tempest. We deliver future solutions to meet customer’s emerging requirements.

Join us and we’ll welcome you into an inclusive culture, one that invests in your continuous learning and development, and gives you access to a wide breadth and depth of experience.

Your solutions need to be cost-effective, align to project milestones and take into account the full product lifecycle (such as manufacture, assembly, operation, repair, test and disposal). Collaborating with programme, product and corporate teams, you will:

  • Ensure design solutions are tolerant of the environment in which they operate.
  • Use systems engineering, robust design, optimisation, integration and innovation tools and processes to achieve the solutions.
  • Defining the mechanical and functional system, sub-systems and components to meet customers' requirements. Responding to the issues identified during validation and supporting in-service operation of the existing system and sub-systems.

  • Seeks simplicity – you keep it simple and remove complexity, in how you communicate and the way you work

These principles form our values and behaviours and are an essential component of our assessment process and are fundamental qualities that we seek for all roles.

You will also be:

  • Degree level qualified in a STEM subject and experience in a relevant engineering environment (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical or Controls). Other qualifications, in combination with relevant experience, may also be considered. Experience with electrical machinery (desirable).
  • Highly numerate with good technical and analytical skills, problem-solving ability and capable of systems level thinking. Excellent communication; written, interpersonal and presentation skills, and will need to be able to contribute effectively in a team environment.
  • Able to work accurately and at pace. Driven to succeed and can take the lead in identifying project requirements, specifying and executing packages of work.
  • Experienced in digital design tools for 3D parametric modelling and design, analysis, and automation of design processes. Build on your previous aerospace or industrial experience.
