Role Summary:

This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the physical design of Rivian’s electric vehicle systems! We’re looking for a highly motivated, multi-disciplined, CAD based mechanical design engineer to help us design and develop Plastic Molded components including but not limited to Fascia’s, Claddings, Pillar Trims, Roof systems etc.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop and model plastic molded components including, but not limited to Fascia’s, Claddings, Pillar Trims, badges etc.
Use Catia V5/3D Experience to develop high quality 3D parametric data to enable faster turnaround when changes present themselves
Have deep knowledge of various manufacturing processes such as injection molding, compression molding, 2-shot molding, overmolding etc.
Develop high quality 2D drawings and LD files in conjunction with DRE’s to enable nigh quality releases
Work with cross functional teams to develop high quality CAD that meets requirements of the system as a whole and respect clearance zones, sweep zones etc.
Work with the studio team to provide feedback and generate high quality A-surfaces that meet all DFM requirements while keeping with the theme of the vehicle
Come up with different CAD concepts for issues, detailed 2D sections and concept 3D CAD during initial development
Mentor younger and less experienced Design Engineers
Assist Rivian in developing CAD methodologies and design practices that match or better industry standards
Learn the release process and help DRE’s with releases in Enovia

Qualifications:

At least 5 years of relevant industry experience within automotive or other industries using CAD tools (Catia preferred) to design and develop plastic components.
Associates degree (or above) in CAD or Engineering

Pay Disclosure:

Salary Range for California-Based Applicants: $150,000 - $173,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, and other factors permitted by law).
