MISSION
- The Process Design Engineer (PDE) is responsible to ensure a common approach to solving machinery and or process selection problems, where possible
- This common approach to similar problems’ solution shall be used to reduce individual facility resources’ time spent solving the same problems simultaneously, or successively
- Work is performed in a fast paced environment within tight time constraints
- Unusual hours and travel may be required
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure a common approach to solving machinery and or process problems, through the development of Best practices. The knowledge learned is to be documented and shared across the Corp. This will help to reduce individual facility resources’ time spent solving the same problems simultaneously, or successively
- Develop specifications for manufacturing solutions for area of responsibility (Blow Molding). This work to include required R&D to create manufacturing solutions for new products and work with simulations to optimize the design
- To assist facilities in root cause problem solving for process, equipment or quality issues as required (4TH Level)
- Support of the WW Standardization process through the development of Knowledge Management documentation for either equipment or processes in the area of responsibility
ACTIVITIES
- Lead or support trials of new products
- Support trials on existing products and trial schedules for NAO region
- Audit equipment /mold builds that are being led by plants to ensure compliance with WW standards
- Provide assistance and/or input to new product programs, as requested by each program, for the related technology
- Assist plants to reduce Plant Cost, Scrap, and Usage
- Conduct supplier development meetings as required to improve the reliability of equipment plus the investigation of new technology that can improve Plastic Omnium Clean Energy Systems competitive position
- Assist in the development of standards for mold design
- Assist with continuous improvement events as required, such as: Team Feasibility or Six Sigma
PROFILE REQUIRED
Personal Background
- Engineering Degree (Mechanical, Plastics, Electrical, Chemical, Systems Design) required
- 5 -10 years manufacturing experience in plastics industry (blow molding is a plus). Experience with both large and small technical parts, as well as injection-molding experience would be a plus.
- Experience with statistical tools (mean, Cpk, st.dev, etc)
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without the requirement for sponsorship or transfer of Visa now or at any time in the future
Skills and Abilities
- Machine design and or Process Engineering support within other high volume manufacturing industries – working with suppliers to spec out technical devices to get built and installed.
- High volume packaging experience would be an asset
- Product design experience would be an asset
- Machine design and/or Process Engineering support within other high volume manufacturing industries would be an asset
- Computer proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Basic ability to navigate Internet and Intranet software packages
- Ability to maintain working relationships with internal and external customers
- Must be flexible, dependable and creative
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Professional verbal and written communication skills (English required)
- Ability to collect, maintain and analyze data
- Must be able to manage time and determine priorities
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations
