Fire Design Engineer
Based in Witham, Essex
Paying up to £37,000

My client is a leading engineering consulting firm specializing in fire safety and risk management solutions. Job Description:
My client is seeking a talented and motivated Fire Design Engineer to join their dynamic team in Witham. As a Fire Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design and implementation of fire protection systems, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards. You will work closely with their clients, project managers, and other engineering professionals to develop innovative fire safety strategies for a wide range of projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct fire risk assessments and provide expert advice on fire safety measures.
  • Prepare detailed fire safety design proposals and drawings.
  • Design and specify fire detection and suppression systems, including smoke alarms, sprinklers, and fire suppression equipment.
  • Collaborate with architects, builders, and other stakeholders to integrate fire protection measures seamlessly into building designs.
  • Perform fire modelling and simulation to evaluate potential fire scenarios and develop effective evacuation strategies.
  • Keep abreast of industry developments, codes, and regulations to ensure compliance in all projects.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to clients and project teams throughout the design and construction phases.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure proper installation and functioning of fire protection systems.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, feasibility studies, and technical documentation.

Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in fire engineering, preferably in a consultancy environment.
  • Strong knowledge of fire safety codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for fire system design (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
  • Experience with fire modelling software (e.g., FDS, Pyrosim) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CFPS, FSFPE) are advantageous.
  • A passion for fire safety and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
