General Summary:
Performs a wide range of engineering functions related to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of automatic test systems and subsystems. Designs test systems, procedures and test software and conducts validation protocols for testing on new and modified designs, engineering prototypes and production units. Creates printed circuit board designs, schematics, and layout for test fixtures. Maintains functional tests and participates in product improvements including requirement specifications, design, and integration. Supports component obsolescence issues for standard and specials product designs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements engineering designs for electronic parts, components and integrated circuitry utilized in automatic test systems and subsystems. Contributes to design approaches and definition of project parameters.
- Develops test specifications and evaluation protocols. Interprets functional test results and presents findings to senior technical staff.
- Participates in the fabrication and testing of experimental circuitry and hardware. Assesses methods and equipment required to acquire engineering test data and conduct assessments of new applications.
- Supports product development teams, manufacturing, quality assurance and technical support organizations in the establishment of functional specifications for components and validation testing.
- Support and mitigate component obsolescence issues for standard and specials product designs.
- Coordinates with engineering staff, manufacturing, and suppliers/vendors in acquiring and assessing technical data required to accomplish design responsibilities.
- Collaborates in the design of electromechanical test fixtures including printed circuit board designs, schematics, and layout.
- Assist technicians with troubleshooting failures which consists of analyzing test results, circuit probing, and performing measurements using DMMs, O’scopes, PNAs, logic analyzers, etc
- Promotes and creates process improvement through programs and engineering procedures.
