What you would do as our Design Engineer
We want someone to work on existing and new product designs and ensure successful product launches that meet all of our customer expectations.
Reporting to the Technical Development Manager, you would:
- Create product designs using 3D CAD software’s Solidworks / Autodesk Inventor, ensuring accuracy of componentry.
- Generate detailed 2D production drawings for parts and assemblies.
- Develop product designs from initial concept design through to detailed design, prototype build/analysis, testing, manufacturing trials, through to product launch.
- Ensure good communication with the stakeholder departments (internal and external) at the required development stages, and to countermeasure any design issues arising.
- Be actively involved in the release and control of data for manufacture, e.g., 2D Drawings, and Bill of Materials.
- Follow the design stage gate process.
- Raise and process engineering changes.
The skills and experience you need
We are looking for someone who:
- Is educated to Degree / HND level in Engineering / Design related disciplinary, or has relevant experience in an related field.
- Has experience of design engineering preferably within a Manufacturing environment.
- Has a hands-on approach to engineering design and development ideally within mechanical systems.
- Holds extensive practical 3D CAD system experience and be able to demonstrate, ideally through Solidworks / Autodesk Inventor.
- Has experience of assembly modelling (including mechanism design and simulation).
- Has experience in production drawing creation for both parts and assemblies.
- Is able to work independently under their own initiative or as part of a team.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills.
