calfordseaden is a leading multi-disciplined construction and property consultancy. We provide a definitive range of services to the UK building and construction industry covering civil & structural engineering, building & quantity surveying, clerk of works, project management, employers agent, architecture, mechanical & electrical engineering, sustainability, building information modelling, development monitoring, expert witness, rights of light, party wall and health & safety.
The successful candidates will be working towards a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship in Building Services Engineering (BEng) and on completion of the Apprenticeship End-Point Assessment achieve the Engineering Council's IEng Chartership Status.
Your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- An awareness of British Standards, Building Regulations and Industry Design Guides, when to refer to these and how to apply them into design projects. An awareness of the Construction Stages and Delivery with the ability to understand and work to a project’s programme
- An understanding of the Company’s standards, procedures, culture and core values in relation to our Clients and Professional Services, with an awareness of how this relates to the company business plan and objectives.
- Accompany engineers on site visits and surveys to further understanding of the built environmental and the construction process.
- An understanding of the reading and production of design drawings and models
- An understanding and experience in producing engineering calculations both manually and computerized using the appropriate technical software applications
- Using specialist 3D and 2D software and other resources to design the systems required for the project
- Develop general understanding of energy efficient design, low/zero carbon technologies, BREEAM and Passsive House Design
Skills Required
- Desire to learn by working towards a degree level qualification and registration with the Engineering Council.
- Good computer literacy
- Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively
- Works within time constraints and manages own time and activities effectively
- Demonstrates order and accuracy in approaching tasks
- Able to seek out advice and ask for help and information when required
- Takes responsibility for unallocated tasks which need to be performed to keep the team working well.
Desired Qualifications
Applicants must hold 5 GCSEs at grades A-C/9-4 (or equivalent) including Maths and English along with any of the following qualifications:
- A Level BBC including mathematics or Physical Science
- Have already or due to complete a Level 3 Apprenticeship as a Building Services Design Technician (DDM)
- Or are in their first year of completing their Building Services Engineering Qualification (HNC or HND- the equivalent to a Level 4)
