Our Herefordshire (West Midlands) Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service is a fully integrated young people and adult service delivered by Turning Point. There is a focus on partnership working throughout the service to support those in the local community who need assistance to achieve their goals. We deliver treatment and support across the whole of Herefordshire ensuring a holistic and inclusive approach to recovery in this exciting new service.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and highly attentive individual for a new role within our team. The Deputy Operations Manager will report to the Operations Manager and support the safe and effective delivery of the Herefordshire Recovery Service, with a direct responsibility for governance, safeguarding and our admin function.
Role Responsibility
To lead and develop the team to deliver high quality person centred services as directed by the Operations Manager in line with Business Plan and best practice standards. To work as a key member of the team in delivering the Service. To ensure Turning Point’s vision and values are embedded in the team. To ensure all statutory requirements of the service specification are met.
The role will deputise for the Operations Manager, be an integral part of the service quality improvement plan (including investigations into incidents and feedback), help ensure the high performance of the service and contribute to a learning culture within the working environment.
As Governance and Safeguarding Lead, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all staff are trained and supported to safeguard our service users, working in partnership with Herefordshire Children's Service and Adult Social Services, and in conjunction with the Regional Performance Lead to utilise data and ensure actions are completed.
In addition, the Deputy Operations Manager will lead the Admin Team to ensure that we provide a responsive and well-lead service, accurately recording client information, safely prescribing in line with national policies and following key health and safety procedures. The Deputy Operations Manager will line manage the Senior Clinical Administrator and Admin Workers.

The Ideal Candidate
Essential Requirements:
- Proven track record in relevant area
- In depth knowledge of relevant theory and practice
- Experience of supervising and leading a large team
- Experience of working towards achieving individual and team objectives
- Numeracy, literacy and IT skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills, and ability to adapt communication to suit the audience, e.g. service users, commissioners or staff
- Good time management and able to work to deadlines
- A participative leadership and management style in normal circumstances
- In depth knowledge and understanding of the complex and multiple needs faced by the service user group
- In depth knowledge and understanding of the Valuing People framework
- A demonstrable belief in a values-led approach to working with service users with a Substance Misuse issue.
- Demonstrable track record that is DANOS compliant
- Knowledge and experience of developing, implementing and reviewing substance misuse-related interventions, i.e. group work programmes
- A sound working knowledge of current legislation (e.g. Models of Care) and the ability to translate this into practice
