Background
City has recently completed a year long activity to define its new research strategy. Building on the REF results City is making a major commitment to supporting and developing research across all 6 Schools of the university. This new post will be at the heart of the project helping to refine and implement the research and enterprise strategy. The post-holder will have the chance to lead a new Research Development Team in the Research and Enterprise Directorate.
Responsibilities
The main purpose of this ole will be to lead the Development Team in the Research and Enterprise Directorate where you will refine and implement a range of actions in support of the research strategy, including:
- Develop and implement a university-wide programme for researcher development
- Coordinate the development and submission of larger-scale, strategic projects proposals to the range of funding bodies across the university
- As Deputy Director of the Research and Enterprise Directorate take a senior leadership role across professional services
Person Specification
The successful candidate will have substantial relevant experience working in a development role in a research, enterprise and innovation environment in the higher education sector in the UK or EU.
The successful candidate will have leadership experience either through direct line management or demonstrate the capacity for leadership
The role holder will be expected to have an extensive professional network, connections with relevant policy and funding bodies, both nationally or internationally. We encourage applications from those who can also demonstrate the potential to achieve the above.
