The Avenue Cinema, a new fully licensed luxury cinema experience coming soon to the heart of Belfast, is seeking to recruit for the role of Barista staff.

The ideal candidate will bring their barista knowledge and flair to our barista team. In addition to overseeing the creation of great coffees, the successful candidate will gain knowledge in other areas of the bar service and cinema operation. Such as sale of alcoholic beverages, cinema concessions and cinema tickets. Having an interest in movies is a must!

The Avenue is partnering with Dublin based 3fe coffee for this exciting new venture, and we will be working closely with them to deliver ongoing training and guidance to help ensure that our standards of presentation and product are consistently met. The baristas will play an important role in supporting this and will have an ongoing input into training and feedback. We aim to create a welcoming space for our patrons to meet friends and family, work remotely or conduct business meetings. We will operate from early morning right through the day and evenings, offering a quality product with service and surroundings to match.

Our baristas will have an integral role in helping to create a fun, professional and safe place to work whilst meeting and surpassing the needs of every customer they greet.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment with great attention to detail. Greet and place customers whilst suitably assessing their needs.
  • To ensure that the coffee station is set up & closed down daily as per training and guidelines, this includes working alongside the bar team to collectively complete tasks.
  • To provide guidance and assistance to any service staff where necessary, and to help other members of the bar service team to improve and perfect their barista skills.
  • Assist with the day-to-day smooth running of the bar and customer service and to diligently complete all tasks as assigned by senior managers.
  • To liaise with management on the operations of the equipment, to help maintain quality control, consistency and product development.
  • Stock management including stock taking, ordering and portion/recipe/waste control measures.
  • Dealing one-to-one with customer enquiries or issues, assisting and reporting up the line to duty managers wherever necessary.
  • Ensuring that customer service and focus is at the forefront of every staff member’s work ethic, whilst helping to maintain a professional, fun and friendly workspace environment.
  • To follow good practice with all matters relating to Health & Safety on the premises and pass this along to the whole team.
  • Ensure that all hot and cold beverages are served and presented in a timely manner and as per training cards and recipe cards.
  • To follow good practice for the correct use of all POS till and ordering systems, ensuring prompt payment and closing off of orders and tables etc.
  • To follow correct guidelines on uniform wear alongside high standards of personal grooming and hygiene.
  • Any other tasks and/or duties as directed by management.

Essential Criteria:

  • 1-2 years’ experience working in a busy café or barista environment.
  • Experienced in dealing with front of house systems for a contemporary POS system.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Desire to work as part of a team to deliver industry leading standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining a focus on customer service and standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think proactively to get ahead of potential problems or issues.
  • Excellent working knowledge of barista coffee service, product and presentation.
  • Fully flexible to work days, evenings and weekend shifts.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £14,620.00-£20,180.00 per year
