Job description

We’re looking for a talented and experienced Clinical or Counselling Psychologist or CBT Therapist, with proven experience in service development and a special interest in mental health and long term physical health conditions. This role is designed specifically to lead on ourintegrated pathwayagenda, so that patients with physical and mental health needs can receive coordinated treatment. The service has already come a long way in developing relationships with physical healthcare, and this role will build on already established pathways and create new ones.

The post holder will be accredited with the BABCP. They will provide professional support and supervision for the teams, to ensure that evidence based, IAPTLTC interventions are delivered and resources are being appropriately and effectively used. As such the post holder will have a focus on seeing good outcomes in recovery rates.

The role will provide an opportunity for you to exercise your leadership skills and clinical expertise, lead on new developments within the service and within the workforce of trainee and qualified staff.

You will have substantial clinical experience within the NHS, have the knowledge and ability to lead people and projects, with the support of the senior colleagues. We’d like to see a real passion for physical and mental health; someone with ambition and drive to make direct improvements for our service users.

You will be accountable for the integrated pathways of the following LTCs:

  • COPD
  • Diabetes
  • MSK/Pain
  • Medically Unexplained Symptoms
  • Stroke
  • Cancer
  • Coronary Heart Disease
You will be responsible for the relationship building of mental health and physical health services, which will involve face to face meetings, attendance of MDTs, oversight of pathways and coordinated treatment between services.

You will be responsible for reporting data and oversee the accurate recording and allocation of pathway cases on the patient recording system as well as use of appropriate clinical measures for patients on this pathway.

You shall liaise with other mental health primary and secondary services, and link with the Psychological Professions Network group.

You will provide specialist LTC supervision, clinical leadership, consultation, guidance and training to Senior Clinicians, High Intensity CBT therapists, Senior PWPs, PWPs and Assistant Psychologists.

You will have oversight of treatment groups, workshops and webinars, ideally co-produced and co-delivered with colleagues in physical health services.

To lead the integrated care pathway for LTC in Hertfordshire.

To ensure the systematic provision of a high quality specialist Primary Care Mental Health Service to clients with mild to moderate mental health problems.

To supervise and support the assessment and treatment of clients with co-morbid LTCs.

To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within Primary Care.

To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research.

To propose and implement policy changes that will see service improvements and smoother practice between services.
