Department Administrative Officer

We are looking for an experienced and confident administrator to provide support to our vibrant, friendly department.
The person
You will be an experienced administrator, happy to multitask, with some PA experience and a high level of discretion.
With a collegiate and empathetic approach to colleagues, you will be ready to deal with all administrative issues that arise in supporting the Head of Department, academic colleagues within the department and our students.
You should possess strong IT skills, including MS Office, and be ready to learn the different University IT systems.
You will be good at problem-solving and able to work independently and efficiently.
An interest in higher education is desirable.
The role
Our Department Administrative Officer sits at the heart of the Department. A typical day will be varied with a mix of diary management and PA support to the Head of Department, administrative tasks, supporting colleagues, liaising with students and organising events. You will also provide support to our Research Centres as required.
The Department has achieved success in the National Student Survey for the past two years and in the recent REF. It employs innovative and creative approaches in building a strong, vibrant learning community and the Department Administrative Offer plays a key role in this.
Working hours
The role is a 0.5 FTE role (18 hours per week). Exact working hours/days are negotiable and will be agreed with the successful candidate.
