Job Purpose / Overview:

With guidance from the Demand Planning Manager / Category Managers / Commercial Director, the Demand Analyst is responsible for planning the optimum intake of angling equipment (own-brand and third-party suppliers) to deliver business KPIs on revenue, margin and availability.

Duties will include assessing the company needs based on range, inventory, projects and plans as well as the understanding of general sales and market trends within the industry. Ownership of own-brand demand planning and logistics is a requirement for the role.

Through effective negotiation, networking and demand planning alongside the Category Managers, the Demand Analyst will help Angling Direct drive improvements in profits.

Working with the Category Manager on tactical purchases, and communicating with suppliers on a continual basis, the Demand Analyst will be expected to work closely with other functional teams including the warehouse team, Finance and IT, plus other stakeholders, ensuring close collaboration across the business, and delivery of all KPIs.

The Demand Analyst will develop an in-depth understanding of the market to ensure range metrics maintain, or enhance, Angling Direct’s best-in-class advantage.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Raise / amend / close purchase orders as required to ensure range metrics are met
  • In conjunction with the Category Managers, implement category strategy to deliver budgeted financial KPI’s
  • Manage end-to-end logistics processes with own-brand suppliers to agreed timescales and financial targets
  • Support the Category Managers, providing data insights for range management for full product lifecycle, including all NPD, range changes, promotional plans and clearance activity to agreed timescales
  • With other departments, collaborate to deliver closing stock targets and improve cash flow
  • Forecast levels of demand for products within the core range
  • Keep a constant check on inventory levels and balance stock investment between third party suppliers and own-brand, in addition to core, non-core and discontinued SKUs
  • Financial KPIs – delivery to targets and budgets (sales, margin, inventory, availability)

Key success metrics:

  • Achieve target category revenues
  • Category inventories ROI and closing stock targets
  • Help drive accurate and efficient stock control
  • Drive up stock-turn performance to agreed metrics

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency across higher-level MSExcel skills including pivot tables, what-if analysis and lookup functions
  • Strong team working skills
  • Previous experience in the management of trading margin, retail merchandise planning and supply chain management advantageous but not essential
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills including interpretation of business data and forecasting
  • Strong ability to build and sustain trusted relationships
  • Ability to prioritise and flex
