Do you want to work for one of the UK's leading Water Companies and make a difference? We have a fantastic opportunity for Regional Delivery Managers to join the Better Rivers programme at United Utilities.
This is a great opportunity to play a major part in improving our rivers, helping to create a greener future for our region.
From day one you will plan and lead the successful delivery of our Better Rivers programme, being the interface between the Regional Delivery team and the business at a senior level and managing internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the Better Rivers programme.
Job Accountabilities

- Develop, promote and maintain a safety culture to deliver excellent Health and Safety performance.
- Be accountable for all aspects of the delivery service within the Better Rivers programme and team
- Manage the commercial budget for the region and deliver within budget.
- Lead a multi-functional team to deliver investment programmes of circa £100M per annum
- Lead and mentor a team of Programme Delivery professionals ensuring delivery to TCQi and ensuring safe delivery whilst maximising efficiencies and achieving business objectives
- Develop strong relationships with the leadership team to ensure the service being offered meets the Client expectations.
- Manage risks and changes at programme level and escalate issues affecting programme / project delivery.
- Develop and maintain resource plans to ensure appropriate resources are in place to deliver the workload.
- Review area performance, take appropriate action as necessary and report to the Better Rivers Director and other executives on a monthly basis.
- Ensure compliance with corporate governance.
- Manage the relationship with the Supply Chain to successfully deliver projects and act as an escalation point for any issues arising from the performance of the contract
- Develop and implement an internal and external stakeholder management and escalation plan for the programme of work.
- Delivery of the projects within the programme area to TCQi targets.
Knowledge and Skills
We're looking for someone who is able to operate at a strategic and programme level, as well as:
- Significant leadership and people management skills and an ability to build and develop high performing teams from across the business and external organisations and coach and mentor as appropriate
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility and adaptability to be able to respond rapidly to unexpected events, having the ability to develop creative solutions to problems
- Solid commercial, financial and analytical skills
- Delivery of key targets and objectives within the limits of available resources
- Proven track record of managing different contractual arrangements
- Proven track record of delivery of project portfolios
- Degree level qualified (or equivalent qualification / level of experience) and ideally professionally qualified (e.g. CEng, MICE, MCIOB)
- Preferably APM P Qualification (Practitioner Level)
