THE TEAM

Core Data Services team is at the center of Data and Analytics initiatives. We are building a modern data platform to support enterprise data needs. Our mission and yours too should you choose to join us, is to empower and enable our data community of data engineers, data scientists, analysts, product teams and decision makers to create value.

THE ROLE
We are building a highly functional, performant modern enterprise Data Lake while supporting our current data platforms. We focus on creating trusted, usable data assets in an environment that enables LNE teams to drive value for fans and our business. This is what defines us as a Core Data Services Team.

WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO

  • Work with Product to manage requirements, then organize technical efforts.

  • Responsible for work intake for the engineering teams and assign work to the right teams and ensure the delivery of that work.

  • Work with solution architects to develop the detailed end-to-end architecture for highly performant and reliable data systems.

  • Coordinate among multiple engineering teams and charters to deliver holistic designs.

  • Create detailed and reliable scope and schedule estimates for the engineering teams.

  • Take large, complex projects, break them into manageable pieces, and deliver timely results.

  • Responsible for the timely delivery of engineering solutions.

  • Partner with project managers to identify impediments early and drive the engineering teams to meet the timelines.

  • Manage cross team dependencies and work with tech leads on solutions.

  • Ensure that project risks are identified, tracked, and communicated to leadership.

  • Define and execute programs delivering data as a product, including writing formal documentation such as project charters or program narratives to enable large, distributed, worldwide systems while meeting stringent privacy and compliance requirements.

  • Document work and help maintain our existing documents using Confluence, Google Docs, Lucid Charts and other such tools stack.

  • Encourages a culture of team driven decision making, ownership and accountability.

  • Work with our vendors and data providers

  • Develop solid understanding of Databricks Unified Platform

  • Document existing/new Service interfaces

WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING: TECHNICAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

  • Agile development methodologies using the Atlassian suite: Jira, Confluence

  • Must have the ability to dig into technical details and break a complex work down for engineering to deliver against

  • Good understanding of Data Lakes, Data Warehouses is important to have

  • Deep technical experience across multiple technologies, governance frameworks, data security and data platforms

  • Experience developing ETL workflows and BI dashboards

  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills

  • Demonstrated experience with cross-functional teams, geographically and culturally diverse environment

  • Excellent collaboration and partnering skills

  • Excellent people management skills and ability to influence

  • Manage multiple priorities, results-oriented and delivery focused

  • Experience using ANSI SQL

  • Must have: working knowledge of any of these: Databricks, Snowflake, Teradata, Oracle, Google Big Query, Hadoop and related stack

  • An understanding of cloud services from any of the Amazon AWS, Google GCP or Microsoft Azure is nice to have

  • An understanding of streaming (Kafka) and batch-based data sources is nice to have

  • Experience using version control systems such as Git and CI/CD workflows and practice

The expected compensation for this position in California is:

$128,000.00 USD - $160,000.00 USD
