HMRC Chief Digital & Information Office is made up of Customer Groups which are working independently towards one common goal. About the Role
Our Delivery Managers lead, develop and motivate multidisciplinary teams to deliver value. They create the right environment for teams to succeed, helping them self-organise and create a culture of learning, collaboration and transparency.
Delivery Managers use a range of methodologies, mainly within an Agile environment, to monitor and forecast delivery team’s work as well as create a motivating environment to focus on what is most important to the delivery and allow the team to succeed. You will work either within a delivery team or will be supporting a group of delivery teams throughout the delivery lifecycle, to deliver value and change, usually within the context of wider projects and programmes.
You will use your knowledge and experience of Delivery Management or Agile to coach and mentor teams and colleagues. You will encourage and facilitate continuous improvement and identify and remove blockers to delivery.
You will understand and be able to interpret the needs of business and technical stakeholders and manage expectations successfully.

As a Delivery Manager you will require knowledge and understanding of Agile methodologies, however, knowledge and experience of other methodologies, in addition to Agile, are welcome.
The complexity or breadth of products or teams will vary in this role, depending on the context of the work assigned.

Key Responsibilities:
- Understanding when and how to employ Agile and Delivery Management techniques to get the best result.
- Coaching team members, CDIO and HMRC stakeholders in Delivery Management and Agile techniques.
- Monitoring and facilitating effective delivery progress.
- Removing blockers to successful delivery.
- Being an active member of the Delivery Manager community.
- Using a variety of team forming, norming and storming techniques to build self-sufficient and empowered teams.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to produce a favourable outcome.
Essential Criteria:
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate practical knowledge and experience in the following:
- Proven experience of Delivery Management, using Agile techniques.
- Proven experience balancing multiple priorities on large scale and high visibility projects.
- Strong negotiation skills and a proven ability to influence external partners, stakeholders and customers.
Desirable criteria:
Ideally, the successful candidate will also demonstrate knowledge and experience in the following:
- Knowledge of emerging technology (e.g. PEGA) would be desirable for some of our roles.
- Experience of finance management is desirable for some of our roles.
