Salary
London based – The total package for this role at SEO is £41,449 per annum (non-negotiable). This figure includes a non-pensionable, non-consolidated Location Allowance of £2,000.
East Kilbride based – The total package for this role at SEO is £39,449 per annum (non-negotiable).
Milton Keynes based – The total package for this role at SEO is £41,199 per annum (non-negotiable). This figure includes a non-pensionable, non-consolidated Location Allowance of £1,750.
Job description
Main Purpose of Job
This role sits in within the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office’s Consular Services Department Product & Delivery team. The team take responsibility for services that British people abroad can access directly, and the internal systems our colleagues around the world use to assist them.
For example:
- Consular content on GOV.UK (such as travel advice)
- Digital services (such as our emergency travel document service, notarial and document services, assistance services, and service for British nationals to register presence overseas during a crisis)
- Internal systems (such as our global case management and business intelligence systems)
Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) capability is crucial in developing the “end-to-end” consular services we offer British people. Our DDaT teams work collaboratively with posts and colleagues across the wider Consular Directorate to ensure that our ‘always on’ global 24/7 services are fully integrated with the more specialist and face-to-face services we provide.
We work in integrated, multidisciplinary, supplier and civil servant teams to deliver ongoing improvements across our portfolio of products and services. This includes the full range of DDaT roles, as well as policy and operational leads.
This role provides:

The Senior Delivery Manager will be accountable for multiple strands of delivery, primarily focused on our cross-portfolio supporting products and services, which underpin multiple internal and citizen-facing products.
They will work with multidisciplinary teams comprising of internal teams, other government departments, and suppliers to ensure successful delivery across the product lifecycle.
The successful candidate will be part of a wider Delivery Management team, working closely with Product Managers and Service Owners on particular services, and directly manage a Higher Executive Officer (HEO) Delivery Manager.
Roles and Responsibilities
As a Senior Delivery Manager, you will:
- Work across multiple products to provide delivery oversight, roadmap assurance, and ensure our multi-disciplinary teams work effectively together to deliver high quality products
- Manage delivery using agile and project management techniques, across different phases, including the introduction into live for new products, and decommissioning of legacy systems
- Agree and ensure delivery of the roadmap for the cross-cutting, supporting products and services that underpin multiple internal and citizen-facing products.
- Own the relationship with key suppliers, manage their workload, ensure they are clear on priorities, and that outcomes meet stakeholder expectations
- Work with internal and external partners responsible for managing products and services to provide feedback, and highlight areas for further enhancements
- Manage the budget for specific products and services, including forecasting spending and contributing to business cases as necessary
- Engage with key stakeholders to understand their needs, and translate between technical and non-technical
- Line manage one Higher Executive Officer Delivery Manager

- Effective stakeholder communication. You have experience working with technical and business stakeholders, and communicating between the technical and non-technical. You can manage stakeholder expectations, and support.
- Financial and commercial management. You have experience of engaging with partners and suppliers to deliver, following the relevant commercial processes. You can achieve value for money, through balancing costs versus value, and tracking spend.
