Job description
As our Delivery Manager, you will play a pivotable role in Tech Services, responsible for ensuring efficient and effective delivery of key projects and initiatives. You’ll lead a team of multi-disciplinary and matrix managed teams to deliver exciting delivery projects aimed at modernising the agency and improving how our colleagues carry out their duties, which keeps Britain’s roads safe and moving.
You will be involved in introducing Windows 11 and leading the roll out to the whole DVSA estate, the retender and implementation of major contracts such as Wide Area Network (WAN) and the roll out of tech to new HQ offices.
You are passionate about innovation and will provide strong leadership to your Delivery Management team, including guidance and direction as they deliver their projects, such as Tech Refresh and application roll outs. Fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
The key to successful delivery will be ensuring in-scope business requirements are delivered within time constraints. This is a critical role in the context of building sustainable capability to operate, support and improve technology services.
Other responsibilities will include:
- Leading the delivery of medium-size projects on a day-to-day basis, and supporting the delivery of larger delivery projects.
- Motivating people to deliver great customer service and optimise delivery.
- Understanding when and how to employ Agile and traditional delivery management techniques to get the best result.
- Demonstrating effective delivery management skills to multitask within tight deadlines.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive delivery plan, including scope, timelines and resource allocation.
- Monitor and report on project progress, milestones and performance metrics to senior management, stakeholders and other relevant parties.
- Demonstrate leadership by providing guidance to staff to support the delivery of objectives.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders such as external suppliers, operational teams, User Services, Infrastructure etc to ensure alignment, gather requirements and manage expectations.

Person specification
To be successful in this post you will have experience of working within a large or medium complex project team. You will have competent knowledge of planning, resource management, risk and issues management, governance, assurance, and requirements management within a project environment.
You will also have had exposure to delivering IT projects/programmes as a Project/ Delivery Manager and you will have prior experience and knowledge of agile and waterfall methodologies.
You will possess strong negotiation and communication skills and have a proven ability to influence a variety of internal and external stakeholders. You will be a strong team player and will possess leadership qualities which will be used to support and mentor a developing team.
You will have Commercial awareness where it comes to managing and monitoring project costs and budgets.

Additional Information
There may be an element of travel associated with this role to other DVSA offices, with some infrequent overnight stays.
Whilst we welcome applications from candidates seeking part-time work, please note, that there is a business requirement for successful applicants to work a minimum of 30 hours per week.
