Job description
Western Counties Roofing Ltd are a leading roofing company specialising in providing high-quality roofing solutions. We are currently seeking a responsible and reliable Delivery Driver to join our team at our Heathfield, Newton Abbot depot. As a Delivery Driver, you will be responsible for transporting roofing materials and supplies to various locations in a safe and timely manner. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that our sites receive orders accurately and efficiently.
Vehicle: 3.5 tonne flatbed.
Responsibilities:
- Safely and efficiently operate a company-provided delivery vehicle (3.5 tonne flatbed) to transport roofing materials and supplies to designated locations.
- Load and unload delivery vehicles, ensuring that all items are securely strapped and properly arranged to prevent damage during transportation.
- Plan delivery routes and schedules to optimise time management and ensure timely delivery of orders.
- Verify and cross-check delivery orders with customers, ensuring accuracy and completeness of items delivered.
- Provide exceptional customer service by being professional, courteous, and helpful during delivery interactions.
- Complete necessary paperwork, such as delivery logs, and customer signatures, accurately and in a timely manner.
- Inspect and maintain delivery vehicles, ensuring they are clean, fuelled, and in good working condition.
- Report any vehicle issues or incidents promptly to the appropriate supervisor.
- Adhere to all relevant traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to ensure safe and responsible driving practices.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with the dispatch team and other company personnel to ensure smooth delivery operations.
- Assist with general warehouse duties, such as organising stock, inventory management, and order picking, as needed.
Requirements:
- 1. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- 2. Proven experience as a delivery driver or a similar role is preferred.
- 3. Familiarity with local routes and areas is a plus.
- 4. Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- 5. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- 6. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- 7. Physically fit and able to lift and carry heavy roofing materials.
- 8. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- 9. Ability to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment.
