Job Summary: The Acoustics Company is seeking a reliable and skilled Driver to join our team. The driver will be responsible for transporting goods from our manufacturing plant in France to our storage facility in Telford, UK. This position requires a category D license to operate a curtain sider Luton van. In addition to transportation duties, the driver will also be responsible for delivering goods to customers located across the UK from our Telford facility. There may be additional duties at the storage depot as required.
Responsibilities:
- Safely and efficiently drive a curtain sider Luton van from the manufacturing plant in France to the storage facility in Telford, UK, approximately four times a week.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant road safety regulations and company policies.
- Load and unload goods onto the vehicle, ensuring proper securing and handling of the cargo.
- Plan routes and schedules to optimize delivery times and minimize fuel consumption.
- Conduct routine inspections of the vehicle, ensuring it is in good working condition and reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents or delays encountered.
- Provide exceptional customer service while delivering goods to customers across the UK.
- Assist with other duties at the storage facility, such as organizing and managing inventory, as required.
- Adhere to company guidelines for health and safety, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
Qualifications:
- Valid category B driving license.
- Proven experience as a professional driver, preferably with experience in long-haul transportation.
- Familiarity with operating a curtain sider Luton van or similar commercial vehicle.
- Excellent driving skills and a clean driving record.
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and traffic laws.
- Ability to plan routes efficiently and effectively, considering traffic conditions and delivery deadlines.
- Basic maintenance and troubleshooting skills for routine vehicle inspections.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers and colleagues.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Physical fitness and the ability to lift and move heavy objects when necessary.
Working Conditions:
- The driver will spend a significant amount of time driving between France and the UK, as well as delivering goods across the UK from the Telford facility.
- The role may involve occasional night shifts and weekend work to meet delivery schedules.
- Some duties may require working at the storage depot, including manual handling of goods.
