Job description
Immediate opportunities for full or part time delivery drivers servicing permanent routes in Cornwall out of the Roche depot. These roles are to support the ongoing growth and success of the DPD business working directly for King’s Delivery’s Ltd (service provider franchisee). The roles are permanent and salaried with the opportunity to earn overtime for additional days worked when demand requires, at a rate of £100 per day.
We are currently able to offer part-time or full time contracts with a review upon completion of a 13 week probational period. No experience necessary although confidence in driving a 3.5tn van is essential.
As a delivery driver for King’s Deliveries the role involves loading your van at the Roche depot and then heading out onto a route in Cornwall. Deliveries have to be completed with a planned hour and we also complete collections from both businesses and residential customers. On completion of your route you head back to the depot and check in all returned/collected parcels. All equipment is provided including the use of a handheld scanner which holds all the parcel information and is your sat nav too - if your comfortable using a smartphone you will be fine!
All backgrounds considered, hard work, safe driving, great customer service and the ability to self motivate are key requirements. A flexible approach to working hours is also key as finish times will vary depending upon delivery times, volumes and traffic!
A clean driving licence is preferable although not essential depending on category of points.
If you enjoy driving, hitting targets and giving fantastic customer service and want to be part of a successful, in demand, business then please apply. We have already built a strong, friendly team who work hard to get the job done but also have a laugh and enjoy being part of the Kings Deliveries family. If you would like to part of our growing team then please apply giving your reasons for wanting this role.
Van, fuel and uniform provided.
Previous drivers for DPD will be considered although this must be disclosed when applying.
Successful candidates will need to undertake a DBS check.
In addition to a competitive salary and performance related bonus we offer 28 days holiday. Weekends and bank holidays are part of our working week although you wont be expected to work them all, unless you want too!. After completion of a successful probation period you have the option to join our pension scheme and after one years service you will be entitled to private health care (a recent addition to our benefits package as we are constantly reviewing how we look after our team).
Successful applicants will be invited on an unpaid 'taster' day in which you will go out on a route with an experienced member of the team and have the opportunity to ask questions and experience a 'day in the life' of a delivery driver - if we are happy with you, and you are happy with us!, we can get new drivers started pretty quickly once all required paperwork is provided. Full training is given and you will start by shadowing a couple of drivers and making sure you are happy with all processes before going out on a small route by yourself. Most drivers are happy to go solo after a couple of days and within a couple of weeks are up the required performance level of anywhere between 90-120 stops (average) depending on the route. This may sound daunting at first but we have a proven track record of taking drivers with no delivery experience to this level.
