Full time: 37 hours per week (standard working hours 7am-3pm, Monday-Friday)

We are seeing a flexible and motivated delivery driver/assistant building officer to work in the Logistics Team who sort and deliver the varied resources that Inspire provide across the whole of Nottinghamshire. Reporting to the Senior Building Officer, this post will also assist with the day-to-day building tasks at Inspire HQ, including opening and closing the building, assisting with regular building checks and the sorting of library stock and other items for delivery across all of Inspire’s 60+ sites. You will undertake van deliveries to Inspire sites and schools across Nottinghamshire.
The role also includes preparing meeting rooms ready for hire, moving furniture and general janitorial and cleaning duties as required.
This is a varied role visiting various sites working with a wide variety of Inspire services and different teams. A friendly and flexible approach and good organisational skills are essential, with the ability to take instruction and safely operate Inspire vehicles. A full UK driving license is an essential requirement.

Job Purpose
To provide a consistent, high quality customer focused library and information service through the provision of a fast and efficient van delivery service transporting books, resources and furniture items to libraries, schools and other Council buildings and to play a key role in the smooth and efficient running of the caretaking and dispatch functions at Library Headquarters.
Key Responsibilities
1. To ensure the highest possible customer experience by providing an excellent service to library and ELS customers
2. To respond appropriately to customer feedback, being clear where this should be dealt with personally or be referred on to senior staff
3. To undertake van deliveries, driving in accordance with Inspire vehicles and the Road Traffic Act Regulations, to public libraries and their customers according to standard schedules and routings. This will involve the locking and unlocking of library buildings and the setting of security alarms.
4. To undertake van deliveries/collections to / from schools and any other customers of the Education Library Service and Instrumental Music Service
5. To undertake other deliveries as directed by the Senior Building Officer, assisting staff with packing and unpacking as necessary
6. Assist with all aspects of loading and unloading library and suppliers’ vehicles
7. Receipt, unpacking, sorting, distribution and dispatch of Inspire goods, including books and related materials, miscellaneous items of furniture and musical instruments
8. Undertake general janitorial, basic maintenance and specific cleaning duties, including waste removal.
9. Opening/closing down the Glaisdale building including all security checks, setting burglar alarm system and locking up the premises.
10. Responsibility for the safe operation of the vehicle under all conditions.
11. To follow correct processes and to alert the appropriate manager to ensure compliance with vehicle maintenance, building management and health and safety requirements and make sure the vehicle is secure and parked safely when not in use

Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) contractual requirements, and professional best practice
Education and Knowledge Required for the role
1. Possession of a full, valid UK driving license
2. Knowledge of the principles and practices of excellent customer service
3. Knowledge of and interest in the library service and its services
