Cook / Deli Assistant
We require reliable and enthusiastic people to work in our busy Deli, candidates must be fully flexible to work Monday – Sunday. These shifts will be morning & afternoon work between the hours of 6am-4pm, so may interest Chefs in the hospitality trade who prefer this over late evenings. Our Deli team work on a 4 work Cycle, so each team member will have 2 Saturdays and 2 Sundays off, including a full weekend off, every 4 weeks.
The successful candidate will be joining a forward thinking and growing company. We are building and opening another State of the Art store in the Portadown/Craigavon area this year, with a Key Focus on Food to Go. Therefore there will be a number of great opportunities for promotion into supervisory & management in the near future.
To work as a key part of the team in the day to day running of the Food to Go, Deli, Hot Food and in store bakery. Ensuring enthusiasm, flair and taking pride in you work with the ultimate goal of helping to maximizing sales and profit for the areas of your responsibility.
Main duties & responsibilities: - Understanding and meet the needs of the customer at all times – ensuring excellent customer service. Preparing, cooking and serving hot/cold meals, whilst ensuring maximization of availability - Demonstrate enthusiasm, flair and passion to entice customers to shop with their eyes - Manage and co-ordinate promotional execution – Compliance to drive sales & margin, preparing and submitting orders - Ensuring correct portion controls, weighing, labelling and pricing are used to allow for correct margin adherence and to reduce stock loss. To remain aware of competitor activity, suggesting new and innovative ideas to stay ahead of the competition.
Essential: Deli Assistant / Cook Essential: - At least 1 years recent experience in a busy catering, fast food, cafe, deli, food to go or hot counter environment. This experience may be in a sales-based environment - however applicants from the hospitality trade will also be considered. Good working knowledge of all fresh food areas and an ability to support in maintaining an exceptionally high standard of operational efficiency throughout hot/Food to Go operations - Proven experience in the areas of people skills, HACCP, Hazard analysis and critical control procedure implementation - Excellent attention to detail in food standards - Excellent communication skills.
Desirable: - Experience gained within a busy convenience or supermarket retailing unit - Further education in related discipline e.g. NVQ in catering or higher - Fresh food operation including bakery, delicatessen, provisions and coffee - Experience of a cafe or retail customer facing environment.
