Job description
Degree Apprenticeship – Quantity Surveyor
BSc (Hons) degree Apprenticeship Construction and Build Environment (Quantity Surveying) at Glasgow Caledonian University
Fixed-term contract
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our commercial team as a Quantity Surveying Apprentice. As a trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will be part of our commercial team, where you will learn to manage all cost-related aspects of construction projects. We will make it our ambition to prepare you for a successful and rewarding career in commercial management.
This apprenticeship will offer you the opportunity to earn a wage and work full-time in our surveying department. This means you develop your skills in a real working environment from day one and are able to put the skills you learn at College/University, directly into practice at work.
You will attend college or university on a day or block release basis during the Apprenticeship, working towards the completion of BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying or equivalent Quantity Surveying SCQF Level 10 Diploma. When not in attendance at the chosen institution for study, you will be working in the office/sites gaining hands-on experience which is tailored to the course to support you through your qualification.
As a Quantity Surveying Apprentice, you can expect to work across the entirety of the commercial and pre-construction departments providing assistance with risk and value management as well as cost control, analysis, and estimates. You’ll be supporting the commercial teams with their day-to-day activities and can expect to regularly visit sites and carry out practical work. As an apprentice, you will develop technical, legal, analytical, and evaluation skills in contractual frameworks, costing a project and enhancing value for money, while still achieving the required client expectations, standards, and quality.
We understand this may be one of your first roles so we’re looking for someone with a genuine interest in progressing their career to become a Quantity Surveyor. If you can demonstrate the ability to work on your own initiative and take a methodical approach to assigned tasks with excellent written and verbal communications skills this could be the role for you. Having demonstrably good time management skills is essential for this role so being highly organised is a key skill we are looking for.
Hadden Group is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to developing people.
