A new opportunity has arisen within the Rights of Way Team for the position of Definitive Map Modification Order Officer to help the Council reduce the current backlog of Modification Order applications needing to be determined. A new opportunity has arisen for the current temporary role to become a permonant postion.
If you’re analytical, an effective communicator and experienced in interpreting maps, this may be the ideal opportunity for you. You’ll make full use of your skills as you respond to applications from members of the public requesting changes to the public rights of way network.
You’ll research historical documents, analyse information provided by users, deal with landowners, visit sites and produce objective reports as well as drafting legal orders. Where necessary you’ll go on to represent the Council at Public Inquiries.
You will have a relevant qualification or experience within rights of way or related work with a proven track record in research, and have a confident, diplomatic and persuasive personality to negotiate with, present to and influence a range of different people. You’ll also need to have a strong knowledge of the relevant legislation. This role demands a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills as well as good map-reading and GIS skills. By joining our busy and dedicated team, you will help to maintain the Council’s legal record of Public Rights of Way.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be essential, enabling you to deal with people with tact and diplomacy to meet the aims of the team. A full driving licence is essential as is the ability to travel around the County Borough, often to remote locations.
