Role Overview
Applications are invited for a permanent Deck Rating to sail within the Western Isles Fleet. You will be responsible to the Bosun. As Deck Rating, you will be required to assist with the effective operation of the vessel by providing operational support to the Deck Department. Provide specific operational support during mooring and Vehicle Deck / cargo operations. Undertake Deck Department maintenance.
Functional Responsibilities/Key Tasks
- Assist with mooring operations, including the handling of mooring ropes and equipment and the operation of mooring machinery / equipment as required
- Assist with Vehicle Deck and cargo loading / unloading operations as required
- Assisting in general Deck Department planned maintenance routines as directed by the Bosun
- Duties as required by the Muster List in an emergency, including drills and emergencies
- Assist with directing passengers off the vehicle decks to the passenger areas, including directing mobility impaired passengers to and from the passenger lift
- Conduct bridge watch keeping duties and/or vehicle deck checks on passage
- Carry out security gangway duties in the absence of a Night-watchman
- You must be customer focused, have a clear understanding of the customer interface, and have a proactive approach to customer care.
