Decision Intelligence Data Science Manager – 24-month Fixed Term Contract
The Supply Chain Transformation (SCT) Programme has been established to develop the capabilities required to support new GSK’s growth ambition. SCT will drive alignment and accelerate value creation across Commercial, Operations, Finance in the GSK Supply chain of Pharma medicines and Vaccines.
It will create the foundation for an accelerated, digital transformation of the end-to-end Supply Chain to drive revenue, profitability, and improved working capital. It will bring together complementary initiatives across GSK under one accountable GSK Supply Chain Transformation team.
There are 5 key Supply Chain Transformation (SCT) Work Streams that will deliver new capabilities for the organisation:
1. End to End Supply Chain Planning – including global implementation of our new Advanced Planning System, OMP
2. Integrated Business Planning
3. External Network Collaboration including External Manufacturing and Incoming Materials Suppliers
4. Low touch Order fulfilment to Delivery
5. End to End Control Tower including Decision Intelligence
These are supported by workstreams leading Data and Change & Capability.
Job Purpose
- The role is an assignment for 24 months, and offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced, influential and dynamic change leader to be part of a core team shaping the future direction of GSK’s supply chains
- As a Data Science Manager for Supply Chain Transformation, you ensure that solutions developed through the decision intelligence workstream drive transformative changes in supply chain automation and performance by effectively incorporating artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies. You will oversee a team of data scientists specialized in various capabilities, including control tower, digital twins and AI driven supply chain parameter updates
- You will play a lead role in selecting, developing, and deploying algorithms that can effectively handle real-world scenarios in supply chain management, enabling predictive and prescriptive analytics capabilities
- You will play a vital role in planning and driving activities within the capabilities, striving to move from conceptual ideas to tangible and impactful solutions at an ambitious pace. Your innovative thinking will be crucial in exploring and leveraging disruptive technologies like generative AI to achieve the desired value and outcomes in supply chain processes
- Collaboration will be a cornerstone of your role, as you will work closely with other business stakeholders to ensure that the solutions meet the highest standards of insights and effectiveness, benchmarked against industry best practices and with an outside-in perspective.
- Your expertise will extend beyond data science, as you will engage extensively with colleagues in supply chain functions, translating their business needs into specific requirements for AI-based capabilities
In this role you will…
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Partner with decision intelligence stakeholders and business teams in supply chain transformation to understand their needs and ensure alignment of advanced analytics capabilities.
- Translating Analytical Requirements: Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and delivery teams, translating analytical requirements into actionable use cases requiring cutting edge data science methods and resulting in impactful solutions.
- Positioning Advanced Analytics Tools: Work with business stakeholders to determine the appropriate positioning of advanced analytics tools within decision intelligence functions, in alignment with other transformation tools.
- Incorporating Advanced Technologies: Explore and implement the use of advanced technologies like cognitive platforms and generative AI to enhance user journeys and improve the quality of insights and decision intelligence/ automation.
- Coaching and Support: Support and coach development teams in re-engineering algorithms and adapting solutions like control towers and digital twins to meet changing requirements and business logic.
- Data Science Communication: Transform complex data science outcomes into clear and effective communication suitable for various management levels, using impactful visualizations and actionable recommendations to foster understanding and support.

Preferred Qualifications
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
- Degree level or equivalent
- Pharmaceutical / Vaccines Experience
- Experience applying data science in supply chain use cases to drive impact at scale
- Formal qualification in data science
- Introducing modern analytical capabilities to business including Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML), other cognitive capabilities (that enable closing the loop on analytic insights to action)
- Demonstrated ability to manage communications with a dispersed stakeholder group with experience in uncovering stakeholder management issues
- Experience in change management
