Job description
DE&S have exciting opportunities available to join them as a Security Advisor.
In this role you will provide advice for, and support the delivery of, an effective organisational posture to manage security and resilience risks across DE&S and Defence Industry. You will be supporting the organisation to apply security and business continuity management processes.
These opportunities offer the successful candidates the opportunity to develop in the Security sector, with career progression, training, and the opportunity to undertake security qualifications.
Please note that if successful you will be expected to attend site on a regular basis, this can vary due to organisational requirements.
Due to the nature of the role, these posts will be reserved for Sole UK Nationals.
Please be aware we have one position based solely in Bristol, the other position can be based at either Bristol, Plymouth, or Glasgow.
Responsibilities
- Maintain awareness of current and emerging policies and their impact on existing security and business continuity practices.
- Provide pragmatic advice to internal and external stakeholders to support compliance with security and business continuity requirements.
- Support the development of security and/or business continuity policies, processes, and procedures, and drive continuous improvement through the sharing of knowledge and best practice.
- Support/coordinate the completion of threat assessments, risk assessments and/or business impact analyses for the organisation using appropriate methods.
- Contribute to the development of effective risk/threat mitigation solutions and advise managers and risk owners on any residual security or business continuity risks and issues.
- Support the development of effective incident response structures.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of security and/or business continuity exercises programmes.
- Provide investigation and assessment of security and/or business continuity incidents and/or policy non-compliance.
Person specification
To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:
Experience in ONE of the following in either industry or from within the defence sector:
- Defence Security
- Risk management
In addition to the responsibilities above, the following technical competences and behaviours will be assessed at interview:
- Risk Understanding and Mitigation - Supervised Practitioner
- Security Compliance and Assurance - Supervised Practitioner
- Communicating and Influencing
