Location: Minstead, Totton & Hythe

Salary: £20,500 equal to £10.50 per hour (Rising to £10.90 upon skills assessment after 6 months)

Job Type: Full Time, Monday - Friday (37.5 hrs per week)

Minstead Trust, a leading learning disabilities charity based in the heart of the beautiful New Forest, is offering the opportunity for a Support Worker to join its charismatic Day Opportunities Team.

The Trust is now embarking on an exciting new 5 year strategy aimed at going beyond typical support, delivering exceptional care with a focus on inspiring and influencing the community, further breaking down stigma and empowering those we support to reach their full potential.

In this role, our Support Worker will provide 1-1 support to adults with learning disabilities to attend our Day Opportunities sessions. The role will also facilitate and lead two weekly friendship groups based in Totton & Hythe to engage the local community and support people with learning disabilities to access the groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • To provide 1-1 support to the people we support, enabling them to participate and engage with a variety of activities and sessions in our Day Service
  • To plan, facilitate and lead two weekly friendship groups based in Totton & Hythe aimed at enabling adults with learning disabilities to make friends and become engaged with the local community
  • To accurately document care records of the people we support, and ensuring all care needs are met including medication, healthy eating and personal care.
  • To support the development of the Day Opportunities team, assisting in the creation of future projects such as community groups.

Personal Specification

  • Experience of supporting adults with learning disabilities (Essential)
  • Experience of working with challenging behaviour (Essential)
  • A range of IT skills including Outlook, Word and Excel (Essential)
  • Knowledge of care management systems (Preferred)

Due to the nature of this role, a full, valid driving licence is required.

All staff working for, or on behalf of Minstead Trust, understand their responsibilities in relation to safeguarding adults at risk and know who to escalate concerns to within Minstead Trust.

Due to the nature of this employment sector your application is subject to a successful Disclosure and Baring Service check (DBS).
