Job description
Main Purpose:
The Data Science and Engineering Team are recruiting a Data Integration Developer to scale up the global support capability for our data and analytics platform used by our research and trading teams. The candidate will work closely with our data engineers, data scientists, external data vendors, and various trading teams to rapidly resolve data and analytics application issues related to data quality, data integration, model pipelines, and analytics applications.The Data Science and Engineering team researches, develops and provides advanced analytics and data services to the trading business and other commercial operations at Trafigura. It is comprised of Data Scientists, Data Engineers and Quantitative Finance experts. It is a commercially driven, front office aligned team, that works in close partnership with the trading desks, global research and enterprise technology.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Python (2-3 years+)
- SQL (2-3 years+)
- Familiarity with data engineering
- Experience with AWS data and analytics services or similar cloud vendor services
- Good communication skills
- Strong problem solving abilities
- Ability to organise and prioritise work optimally
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of issues reported and see problems through to resolution
- Research, diagnose, troubleshoot and identify solutions to issues
- Follow standard procedures for proper escalation of unresolved issues to the appropriate internal team
- Provide prompt and accurate feedback to users
- Ensure proper recording and closure of all issues
- Prepare accurate and timely reports
- Document knowledge in the form of knowledge base tech notes and articles
Competencies
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse set of stakeholders across business lines and technology
Education
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
Key Relationships and Department Overview:
- Report to Data Science and Engineering team Head of Engineering based in Geneva
- Collaborate with Support Engineer in Mumbai and global team of engineers (Mumbai, Johannesburg, Calgary)
- Work closely with data scientists in a highly commercial environment
- Support research analysts and traders with issue resolution
