We're delighted to share that we're recruiting for a Data Architect to join our brilliant team!
Reporting to the CTO, this is a key role to help understand the current data landscape and define desired data models (including the overall enterprise data model) and having architectural leadership on a data journey to create best in class solutions.
The successful candidate will have experience and ability to recommend best practices for data management of source data sets, both internal and external to the organisation with the ability to capture and document standards and designs that can be easily understood for all stakeholders (DBAs through to CTIO).

What will you be doing?
Day to day, the data architect will be involved in understanding and implementing solutions that drive data excellence. These will involve data consistency, mapping / lineage, quality, standards across multiple projects and solutions, data models and architectural patterns.
Some areas of focus include:
- Mapping and definition of the current & future data architecture states
- Vision, strategy and principles for data management
- Standards to support the full end to end data life-cycle
- Data elements of project and programme solution designs, participating in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment into various environments
- Liaising with key data stakeholders to execute on the wider data excellence strategy
- Working closely with wider architect community to ensure alignment and adoption of principles and frameworks
- Providing oversight and ensuring that all projects comply with defined data architecture principles
What skills, experience and qualifications should you have?
- Data warehousing and the cloud. You have skills in design data warehouses and data pipelines using the cloud technologies from a large scale cloud provider (Google, Amazon or Microsoft)
- Data innovation. You are aware of opportunities for innovation with new tools and uses of data.
- Data modelling. You can explain the concepts and principles of data modelling and can produce, maintain and update relevant data models for specific business needs. You can reverse-engineer data models from a live system.
- Data standards. You know how to develop data standards for a specific component. You can analyse where data standards have been applied or breached and undertake an impact analysis of that breach.
- Meta data management. You work with meta data repositories to complete complex tasks such as data and systems integration impact analysis. You maintain a repository to ensure information remains accurate and up to date.
- Strategic thinking (data architecture). You know about the strategic context of your work and why it is important. You can support strategic planning in an administrative capacity.
- Turning business problems into data design. You design data architecture by dealing with specific business problems and aligning it to enterprise-wide standards and principles. You work within the context of well understood architecture and can identify appropriate patterns.
- Technical experience of following preferable - Relational and non-relational databases, Data warehousing, SQL, XML, JSON, Agile methodologies, data modelling, ETL A deep understanding of Azure Data Factory and associated cloud technologies would be advantageous as would knowledge of AI/ML.
