OVERVIEW - DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR, LONDON

Our highly motivated and talented DBA group is looking for a Database Engineer that will help the company continue to grow. CoStar Group serves up close to 1.4PB of data from more than 700 SQL Servers that span four On-Premise data centers, two continents and six time zones, and we are expanding to AWS Cloud solution rapidly and start to support Aurora MySQL, MongoDB, ELK, DynamoDB and other DB engines on cloud. We are also looking to support MSFT Azure. We are a data-centric Microsoft focused shop that uses the latest SQL Server and .NET technologies for major applications. As a member of the team you will be relied on for your problem solving, communication, collaboration, project management, process adherence, and financial analysis skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Database technology evaluation, guidance and consultation. You will offer design support and conduct task automation and scripting whilst adhering to, and implementing, best practice and standards development.
- Capacity planning, optimization and tuning covering system upgrades and migrations You will undertake performance management, monitoring, security, backup, and recovery, issue troubleshooting, and documentation.
- Deploy, configure, monitor, and maintain databases in the production, development, and quality assurance environments.
- Working closely with our Operations & Development team planning server/server-less resource requirements.
- Process database change requests, including the creation and modification of databases, tables, views, stored procedures, triggers, jobs, etc.
- You will be responsible for level 2 systems management, you will hold project-level control over some DB initiatives.
- You will help to administrate and support integrating with Microsoft SQL Server so some MSFT SQL DBA skill is required.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Microsoft SQL Server Management experience.
- Experience of other Relational Database Management systems; MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Demonstrable experience of solving data engineering problems with any NoSQL data platforms like Spark, Solr, MongoDB, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, Cosmos DB
- Expertise in database administration for configuration, implementation, maintenance, redundancy/HA/DR, security, troubleshooting/performance tuning, upgrades, database, data and server migrations, Microsoft SQL
- Knowledge of any monitoring tools such as Kibana, AWS CloudWatch, DataDog, etc
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- The ideal candidate will have experience with at least one of the Public Cloud providers like AWS, Google Cloud Services, and Azure experience.
- Experience with Linux Server platform
- Cloud migration experience
- Experience with Data Warehouse technologies such as AWS Redshift, Snowflake, Azure Data Warehouse or Data Analytics
- Experience with relevant scripting languages or programming frameworks desired (PowerShell, Python, NodeJS, JavaScript, bash)
- Knowledge of automation tools & Scripts: ELK, PRTG, Jenkins, Chef, Lamda, Terraform, AWS CloudFomation, Azure Automation, etc.
