We have an excellent permanent opportunity for an experienced Data Warehouse Analyst/Developer to join our Data Warehousing team and to help us drive forward the Trust’s Data Warehousing strategy.

The successful candidate will be based at the City Hospital Campus, and will be expected to take part in the support for and enhancement of our existing data warehouse, as well as in the design, specification, and development of various new ETL and data migration packages; the role encompasses hands-on involvement in all phases of the full software development lifecycle.

The NUH data warehousing team is a small, hard-working team, currently made up of the Data Warehouse Manager and 5 Data Warehouse Analyst/Developers. We are a very friendly and supportive team, with close working ties to other teams in the Trust, such as e.g. colleagues in the SQLDBA team and in Information & Insight.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the post holder is to design, develop, test, and maintain extract, transform and load (ETL) routines, together with the corresponding target data warehouse database objects and structures and all associated documentation.
We are therefore looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and forward thinking individual who possesses in-depth technical knowledge and practical experience of Data Warehousing, SQLServer, T-SQL, and MS SSIS, combined with excellent proven analysis and design skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are likewise essential for this post. Experience of working within the NHS and with NHS data structures, as well as experience of working within a Quality Management System (ISO9001:2008 or similar), would be advantageous.

- Minimum of 6 months practical experience in use of SSMS and T-SQL
- Minimum of 6 months recent practical experience in use of SSIS
- Experience in data warehousing and business intelligence
- Experience in the full development life-cycle, including Analysis and Design
Desirable criteria
- Experience in the use of either Oracle and/or other relational / non-relational RDBMS technologies
- Experience in parsing JSON and/or XML.
- 6 months experience of working within the NHS
Communication skills

- Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, managers, other ICT staff, and internal and external customers and suppliers orally, in writing, and electronically.
- Demonstrates the ability to write clear and concise technical and non-technical documentation such as analysis and design specifications and user guides.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

ID and Right to work checks: NUH authenticate all ID and right to work documentation such as passports, visa’s and driving license through a system called Trust ID. NUH will scan your ID and right to work documentation in to the Trust ID system at your face to face ID appointment. The system will run a check against the key security features within your documentation. The system will provide us with an outcome of your check which will be stored securely on your personal file along with all other pre-employment check documentation.
Consent:
- Transfer of information: If I have previous NHS service - I consent to the transfer of my Electronic Staff Record (ESR) data between this and other NHS Trusts. I also consent to the Occupational Health Department confidentially accessing my occupational health records from my current or previous employer in order to check the status of my vaccinations, immunisations s and screening tests as relevant to the post. I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.
- Disclosure and Barring Service: Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incur a cost dependent on the level of check required (£41.90 for enhanced and £21.90 for standard). I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if it is required (by deduction from first month’s pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
