An opportunity has become available for a Systems Analyst to join our Non-Half Hourly Data Collection / Data Aggregation (NHHDC/DA) Team within our Data Services department.


The Systems Analyst will support in the interrogation and manipulation of data to aid in business decision making. The role will involve analysing and working through large data set requests to identify and solve business problems. In addition, the Systems Analyst will support the Data Services Product Manager in the development and enhancement of Data Services systems and software.


This is a permanent, full-time role working 37.5 hours per week Monday – Friday on a hybrid basis working from home, with travel to our Wigan office at least 2 days per week, with a salary to be discussed between £24,000 - £27,000 per annum dependent on experience & qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the wider Data Services teams assisting in continuous service improvement.
  • Interrogate data sets and performing analysis to assess data quality, interpreting the data, request, and data model source.
  • Analyse results using statistical techniques and present reporting outcome to management and stakeholders through appropriate reporting tools.
  • Develop, generate, and present management information and business insights to senior management and operational/support teams.
  • Develop, document, and deliver new reports alongside user training to aid with upskilling and knowledge transfer within the business support team.
  • Contribute to ongoing business improvement, working with operational, analytical and project teams.
  • Keep up to date with industry changes paying particular attention to changes that directly/indirectly impact the NHHDC/DA and Data Retrieval services.
  • Assist in the development, testing and implementation of software updates and releases.
  • Support the Data Services Teams to help manage change requests, report management, continual improvement and report / resolve issues identified.
  • Provide operational and technical support across data services as required.
  • Track and analyse business trends and make appropriate recommendations that will positively impact the business.


What we are looking for

  • Good standard of general education (GCSEs or equivalent).
  • Previous proven problem solving and analysis skills, with experience of using data querying tools. Any previous experience working within the utilities industry would be desirable.
  • Competent IT skills, including an ability to manipulate data in a range of applications, adapt quickly to new software, and operate Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills via all communication lines (face to face, email, telephone etc.).
  • Good administration skills.
