Team/Function Overview:
Compliance Technology is building sophisticated next generation surveillance solutions backed by a distributed data platform encompassing both markets and communications data. The Data Science team is responsible for conducting research, developing new features and modelling approaches and building out surveillance solutions to mitigate Citi’s risk from bad actors and market abuse. The team works with a range of data and business partners to determine what constitutes risky or illicit behaviour in a range of business areas and develop solutions to identify such incidents.

Job Description and Responsibilities:
As a Data Scientist in Compliance Technology you will have the opportunity to contribute to projects across the Markets Surveillance and E-Comms workstreams with responsibilities including:
Evolution of existing models and tools to expand and improve the risk coverage and surveillances we provide.
The creation of new models or tools according to our client’s needs.
Extraction and wrangling of big data to provide meaningful insights through complex analysis.
Conducting end-to-end projects spanning behavior definition, feature design, prototyping, evaluation, and delivery.
Actively engaging in relevant research projects to develop novel approaches to Compliance goals
Working with the team to break down business requests into actionable items.
Working in an open and collaborative manner – mentoring junior team members and leveraging the expertise of established colleagues.
Develop an in depth understanding of our data, models and goals and appreciate how they fit into the strategic decisions of the enterprise.
Proper documentation of work for model review and knowledge transfer
Work with our engineering, BI and product teams to bring solutions to production and report results accurately.
Citi has a range of roles available for different levels of experience. While more senior roles require a candidate to have wider ranging and more developed expertise, experience in all domains of interest is not required.
Job Criteria:
Either:
Experience with complex data analytics
Proficiency with advanced data science techniques
Proficiency with python and development best practices
Proficiency with SQL or a similar query language
Knowledge and experience in any of the following subject areas:
Probability statistics
Statistical modelling
Heuristic modelling
Machine Learning
Deep learning
NLP
A willingness to continually grow your sphere of competence
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to a variety of audiences
Analytic, problem-solving mindset
Outstanding attention to detail
In addition, the following will be a distinct advantage in the role:
Experience running end-to-end projects
High level of expertise working with Big Data and Big Data systems (Hadoop, Spark/PySpark, Hive)
Comfort working with distributed teams spanning multiple time zones
Familiarity with the Agile framework
Experience in software development
Degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or any other equivalent qualification relevant to the field.
