The Role:
As a Data Scientist, you’ll play a vital part in building predictive and prescriptive models that will improve our business decision making, and ultimately lead to top to bottom growth across our Group. This Data Scientist role is a brand new for the business and consequently you’ll be given full support by the Data and Finance teams and the opportunity to make a real impact! The Data Scientist role will sit at the forefront of our business decision making, utilising data as the catalyst to drive us forward as an organisation
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and deploy descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytical models to help drive effective decision making across the Highbourne group
- Aid senior team members in identifying and maintaining relationships with and between stakeholders, and acts as a point of technical expertise on engagements developing deep understanding of their strategy, future direction, changes and needs
- Identify opportunities to deliver innovative solutions across the organisation to reduce the demand on analytical resources, enhance analytical products and increase the effectiveness of Group Data operational assets
- Constantly seeks to improve the integrity, veracity and diversity of available data to ensure the best possible resource for business analytics
- Continuously seek improvement in technical skills to ensure they are relevant to a rapidly changing technical environment
- Ensure data is handled in a secure and responsible manner conforming to latest legislation, organisational policies / procedures and overall information management strategy within the team
This is a hybrid-based opportunity with true flexibility to work from home, but you should be within commutable distance of our newly refurbished offices in Crick, Northamptonshire

Skills and competencies
- Previous experience working as a Data Scientist
- Understanding of predictive modelling, machine learning, and classification techniques
- Advanced knowledge of Google Sheets, Excel, and SQL
- Strong statistical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with high attention to detail and accuracy
- You’ll have an analytical mind and be someone who enjoys working alongside senior stakeholders, by showing your initiative and desire to find solutions to problems
It is highly likely you will have worked in any of the following roles and/or markets, and worked with the following products and/or services: Data Analyst, Data Scientist, MI Analyst, Reporting Analysts, SQL Analysts, System Finance Analyst, Finance Analyst, BI Analyst, SQL, Construction, Building Products, Retail, Manufacturing, FMCG
