We are looking for an Apprentice Data Scientist to join our R&D Team. With big ambitions for the future there has never been a better time to join Victrex! The Role
This programme is aimed at individuals who are inquisitive and strategic thinkers looking to gain a solid understanding of data science concepts and techniques.
You will benefit from learning the technical skills such as programming, big data, advanced analytics, AI, machine learning and robotic process automation, from industry experienced tutors who hold a previous track record in working with complex data architectures and projects.
A data scientist is a mathematician, a statistician, a computer programmer and an analyst equipped with a diverse and wide-ranging skillset, balancing knowledge in different computer programming languages with advanced experience in data mining and visualisation.
You will analyse, process, and model data then interpret the results to create actionable plans while holding the ability to effectively engage key stakeholders.
The apprenticeship duration in 36 months and is delivered by our training partner BPP. Upon completion, you will have acquired a Level 6 Integrated Degree in Data Science. A Degree, but no student debt! The successful candidate will be enrolled in our September 2023 intake for this course.
About You
To be considered for this role we are looking for candidates have 5 GCSE's including English, Maths & a Science at Grade C/5 or above. In addition you will have achieved or be on course to achieve 3-A Levels at Grade C or above, one of which includes Maths.
Of course, we recognise it is not all about grades. The successful candidate will ideally have a mix of the following qualities:

- Innovative in your approach and like to explore new ways of working
- Inquisitive
- Creative
- Somebody that loves working in teams and collaborating with all sorts of different people
- Good at IT and have an aptitude for maths
- An outstanding problem solver

Stage 2 – Assessment Centre (this might include an interview, show & tell presentation, site tours, case study)
