Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Department
The Bermuda Monetary Authority (Authority or BMA) is seeking the services of a skilled and capable individual to work as a Data Scientist in our Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Department. Reporting
to the Head of the Department or their designate, the incumbent will be responsible for using machine learning—supervised and unsupervised learning—(or other computer automation) techniques to assist the BMA in effective and efficient decision-making in the fulfilment of its prudential responsibilities.
This is a key role for the Authority; the post-holder will be responsible for the following:
- Translating business needs into requirements suitable for framing Machine Learning (ML) solutions
- Creating ML Models to uncover hidden and complex patterns, making predictions about future events and transforming raw data into actionable insights. Models may include predictions and forecasts, text analytics and Natural Language Processing (NLP), as well as unsupervised tasks such as anomaly detection
- Researching, proposing and prototyping ML models to demonstrate and provide business value to solve specific business problems
- Designing, developing and implementing ML model experiments using a scientific approach to configure, organise, log and reproduce experiments
- Designing, developing, implementing, and deploying ML pipelines to deploy scalable ML solutions that are sustainable in an enterprise environment
- Designing, developing and implementing end-to-end Business Intelligence (BI) solutions with data semantic models and self service capabilities, including appealing and effective dashboards and visualisations
- Developing assessments and monitoring procedures for ML models
- Designing and performing meaningful exploratory data analysis over different data sets
- Presenting and communicating information and insights using advanced and effective data visualisation techniques
- Designing, developing and implementing modern and scalable data management platforms (including ‘Modern Data Lake’ and ‘Enterprise Data Warehouse’ solutions as well as consolidated and modern data pipelines (extract, transform, load) to extract, aggregate and manipulate data from various sources implementing and supporting data operation pipelines?
This position requires a proven technical and business background. Therefore, the post-holder must have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field from a recognised institution or professional body
- A minimum of seven (7) years of related experience developing machine learning models, including deep learning models
- Strong experience in data science and advanced data analytics using statistical computer languages (i.e., R, Python Stack, SQL) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
- The capability to perform statistical analysis, quantitative analysis, multivariate calculus and linear algebra
- Proficient experience deploying ML implementations in an enterprise setting
- Proven skills with Text Analytics, NLP and intelligent document processing (IDP) for modelling and processing from the creation of the dataset to the final model in production
- The competency to conduct data pre-processing and manipulation skills, as well as feature engineering
- Skills in data storytelling and data visualisation
- Solid leadership skills to develop strategic data science initiatives, project development and management
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven analytical and critical thinking ability
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple priorities
