U.S. Data Security (“USDS”) is a standalone department of TikTok in the U.S. This new security-first division was created to bring heightened focus and governance to our data protection policies and content assurance protocols to keep U.S. users safe. About the Role:
In your role as a Senior Data Scientist, you will play a pivotal part in guiding the strategic direction of US Tech & Prod. This position is intrinsically multifaceted, requiring the candidate to engage with various disciplines. We seek a candidate with a deep passion for data and generating meaningful and actionable insights. Your primary focus will be on improving the speed and quality of data-based decision making by establishing cutting-edge monitoring systems for real-time or near-real-time data collection and analysis. Leveraging statistical analysis, machine learning, and data mining techniques, you will extract meaningful insights from the data, enabling a profound comprehension of user behavior, trends, and patterns.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with SRE teams to develop and maintain monitoring systems that track key performance indicators (KPIs), and service-level objectives (SLOs).
• Apply statistical analysis and data mining techniques to predict future system behaviors, identify patterns, trends, and anomalies in the collected data.
• Using a custom built visualization tool similar to Tableau or Power BI, create informative and visually appealing dashboards to communicate complex data in an easily understandable format.
• Experience working cross-functionally with business stakeholders to present clear and concise data visualizations, presentation, insights, and recommendations to SRE teams, engineers, and business leaders.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Computer Science or another quantitative field
• 5+ years of experience working in the data science or data analytics area with experience in visualization tools, dashboarding, data cleaning, preprocessing and data analysis .
• Knowledge of fundamentals of machine learning, such as algorithm families (regression, classification, unsupervised), AB testing, hypothesis testing, and optimization
• 3+ years hands on experience in coding with Python and HIVE SQL.

Preferred:

• Experience in a consumer web or mobile company
• Strong background in algorithms and data structures
• Experience working with PII and GDPR data
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with technical and non-technical partners
• Ability to deliver consistent high quality results while working in a dynamic & fast environment
• Passionate, curious, and seeking to tackle every day problems with innovation

Job Information
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $171000 - $256500 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
