Senior Data Scientist
Location: Flexible working with visits to our office in Wimbledon as and when required.
Salary: Competitive
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Data Scientist to work in our Decision Science Team and use innovative machine learning and advanced analytics techniques to support the delivery of the D+G’s data science strategy.
You’ll have the opportunity to use data science to influence D+G’s decision-making process and answer specific business questions. These questions might include:
- Which customers should we focus our marketing efforts on?
- How do we reduce fraud, while maintain high customer satisfaction?
- Which customers do we think are going to leave us in the next 3 months? What is the best way to retain them?
The team has the freedom to pursue any project which enables D+G to make better decisions, faster. This is a stakeholder facing role in a team of 5 data scientists, it will involve working collaboratively with non-technical stakeholders, data analysts and data engineers across D+G.

What you’ll bring:
- Previous experience in a Data Scientist role.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, Git, AWS cloud services
- Track record of delivering machine learning projects from initial scoping, EDA, modelling to deployment.
- Experience working with stakeholders to scope data science, business, and technical problems.
- Keen interest in data science, the emerging ML landscape and how to implement it in a business environment.
- Strong communication skills
- Capable to work in an Agile, cross-functional team of non-technical stakeholders, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Data Analysts.
- Ability to explain data science and machine learning concept to non-technical colleagues clearly and with authority.
- Can take responsibility to help and upskill more junior colleagues.
Desired experience and skills:
- Data science projects related to marketing, fraud detection and churn prediction.
- AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, Athena, Fargate, ECS, CodeCommit, Sagemaker)
- Experience writing testing code with unit tests, integration and using software testing frameworks.
