Job description
About us
We are agile, innovative, data-driven, and our goal is to provide state-of-the-art laser spectroscopy solutions for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions monitoring over large open areas, enabling organisations to achieve their net-zero climate goals..
Our work environment includes:
- Modern office setting
- Growth opportunities
About the role
The Digital team at Mirico develops software suites for our unique, cutting-edge sensor platform and provides the answers to customer questions through powerful analytics. This includes embedded code on the devices themselves, distributed analytics platforms, and web-based user experiences.
Your role will be to provide key technical direction and implementation support for data science and associated modelling, developing solutions that turn sensor data into valuable insights such as detection, location and quantification of gas leaks from infrastructure (e.g. oil & gas production facilities, landfills, farms). This is a vital capability that extracts the maximum value from our sensor technology.
Key responsibilities include:
· Modelling the spread of gas emissions under different atmospheric conditions
· Developing probabilistic models that can accurately predict actual gas emissions
· Integrating machine learning into solutions to enable them to adapt and improve over time
· Implementing algorithms in enterprise class digital solutions
· Working with the R&D team to develop step changes in analytics technology
About you
We are looking for people who are genuinely excited about working in a startup environment which is moving rapidly, is at the leading edge of technology and is addressing global issues associated with mitigating climate change. You’ll be able to demonstrate drive and a passion to succeed, be keen to collaborate closely with other team members, and be comfortable working on complex problems with significant uncertainty.
Ideal candidates will have the following capabilities:
· An appropriate technical degree (e.g.maths, data science, software engineering, computer science, physics)
· Deep experience gained over at least 5 yrs in commercial or industrial situations encompassing:
o Understanding of statistics inc. Bayesian/Monte Carlo methods
o Development and application of machine learning
o Coding skills inc. Python, across multiple platforms inc. Linux and Microsoft Azure
· Familiarity with working using a combination of DevOps, Agile and Lean methodologies
· Strong problem-solving and critical thinking ability
· Good verbal and written communication skills
In addition, it would be desirable if you had:
· A higher degree in a relevant subject
· Transferable domain knowledge in the physical sciences
· Data visualisation skills
