Job description
Our client is looking for a highly motivated, passionate and innovative Data Scientist to join their team.
The successful candidate will work with a number of Tier 1 mobile operators, cloud infrastructure providers and companies in other sectors, and will be responsible for the development and implementation of innovative data science solutions to meet their customers’ needs. This will include requirements analysis, selection of appropriate modelling techniques to meet requirements, mining and analysis of large, disparate data sets, training and validation of models.
The successful client will be working with the company’s best-in-class products in order to deliver the solutions, and will work closely with a technical team comprising of Solution Architects, Business Analysts, Developers and DevOps.

About You
You will need to be a self-starter, committed to delivering high-quality solutions to their demanding customers, dealing with a range of technical and commercial stakeholders and a technology obsessive - keeping abreast of and evaluating relevant new technologies. It goes without saying that great interpersonal, written and oral communication skills are a must. A willingness to take ownership of solutions, issues and see them through to a conclusion is required.
Requirements
The successful candidate will possess the following skills:
- Commercial Data Science experience (minimum 5 years)
- A degree in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, physics, or computer science is essential. A postgraduate degree/PhD in a similar field is a significant advantage
- Strong mathematical and statistical analysis skills
- Demonstrable Machine Learning experience (including the development, training and validation and implementation of such), extensive knowledge and application of Machine Learning techniques and principles
- Deep understanding of predictive modelling techniques and algorithms
- Demonstrable experience in AI methodologies, tools and real-world application of techniques
- Fluency in one or (preferably) more of the following: Python, Spark, Java, R, SQL etc
- Solid knowledge and experience of ETL, Data Integration and Data Warehousing concepts Knowledge of some or all of the following technologies – Hadoop, Kafka, MapReduce, Hive, Redis, MongoDB, Elastic, BigQuery
- Knowledge of telecoms signalling protocols covering mobile RAN, Packet/Voice Core covering 2/3/4/5G
- Knowledge of telecoms signalling protocols covering mobile RAN, Packet/Voice Core
- Linux experience
- A creative and analytical approach to problem-solving
- Ability to work in a pressurised, fast passed and agile environment
Highly desirable
- Solid knowledge of database systems and query tools
- KPI design and implementation
- Familiarity with Cloud analytics services (eg AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, etc)
- Knowledge of containerisation technologies (eg Kubernetes, Docker)
- Knowledge of RDBMS and NoSQL architectures and platforms
- Experience with data visualisation tools (eg Kibana, Tableau)
