As Data Scientist, you will support the Data Science team to ensure the quality and effectiveness of data usage through:
- Aggregating and cleaning data from multiple data files and sources.
- Interpreting datasets and provide ongoing feedback on insights derived from data.
- Implementing data science and machine learning models to make predictions from the data.
- Working closely with other teams to improve data management, modelling and best practices.
You will develop data insights and visualisations for educational, evaluation and research purposes. Working closely with stakeholders, you will define innovative approaches to learning analytics throughout all aspects of the student lifecycle.
The post supports the larger objectives of the IDEA Lab and the college-wide initiatives to deliver an improved student experience.
Duties and responsibilities
- Management of data, research datasets, and generate data extracts, overseeing access to the data and providing all the data-related support to the project team, and collaborators whilst abiding by the data regulations.
- support with scoping of data requirements to support the development of software systems, data integration and data retrieval activities through to the iteration, review and maintenance of data requirements and data models.
- ownership of data modelling projects (including developing relevant KPIs, timescales, reporting, etc.)
- support the data team and their stakeholders to interpret data, analyse results and create reporting mechanisms.
- responsible for the development of dashboards to interpret results and models to make predictions.
- explore and identify areas of interest, data black spots and data enhancement opportunities.
- update and contribute to the Business Glossary, capturing business logic across
Essential requirements
- Degree or equivalent, preferably a technical qualification or comparable
- Relevant and current hands-on experience analysing and managing data in a medium or large organisation covering infrastructure, data warehousing, software engineering, business intelligence and programming for data science
- Successful track record in the interpretation and classification of data
- Experience of identifying and undertaking data analysis within a complex technological environment, extracting meaningful insights from the data
- Knowledge of data science model creation and deployment
