Job Title: Data Scientist

Salary: Up to £47,940 dependent on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Applying a range of machine learning techniques, data mining, prescriptive and predictive analytics to improve business capability
- Applying designated quantitative techniques, statistics, time series analysis, optimisation, and simulation to develop appropriate models for classification, regression, and prediction
- Supporting the development and deployment of data science workflows to streamline business processes for agile decision making
- Analysing large and diverse datasets to provide clear and insights for a range of business applications
- Dashboards and presenting using storytelling methods to stakeholders with different levels of technical understanding
- Researching and assessing new data science techniques via literature reviews and engagement with academia, SMEs and other data science teams across BAE Systems
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Postgraduate level qualification in Data Science
- Experience of using Phython and its application to data science projects
- Curiosity and drive to undertake individual and team projects, and to see through to completion
Desirable:
- Experience of using Tensorflow
- Experience of data base technologies including, but not limited to SQL Server, Cassandra, InfluxDB
- Strong core knowledge of applied maths and statistics

The Maritime Services team:
As a Data Scientist at Maritime Services, you will be contributing to the development of new and existing products as well as undertaking original research to enhance BAE Systems’ knowledge base and capability within the field of Prognostics and Health Management. Working with various data sets including time-series, text data and transactional records, you will be using innovative machine learning techniques to deliver novel insights to support our engineering teams. This role will enable you to put your curiosity and skills into play and allow you to work with various stakeholders via exposure to different areas of the business, all with the aim of maintaining BAE Systems’ position at the forefront of this technology.
