The Role:
We are looking for an established Data Scientist to help deliver Artesia's work on a range of interesting and varied projects across a number of clients. Projects will cover areas such as leakage estimation, strategy, and analysis; night-use analysis; demand forecasting; water conservation and smart metering.
We are looking for a candidate with a keen interest in Data Science within the water industry. You will be enthusiastic, confident, forward thinking, and looking for a challenge. We will provide you with the opportunity to learn from Artesia's experts and develop your own thinking so you can progress and confidently perform data analysis whilst implementing robust statistical techniques required for project delivery.
This is a role that will give you the opportunity to help us maintain our reputation in water demand and develop our skills to meet future challenges. You have have the opportunity to interact with our clients which will include the presentation of project outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for delivering a wide range of interesting and challenging projects, covering areas such as leakage estimation, strategy, and analysis; night-use analysis; demand forecasting; water conservation and smart metering.
- Conduct analysis using a range of sources such as data mining, exploratory analysis, predictive models, machine learning and other statistical tools to ensure successful project delivery.
- You will be required to provide commentary and insights alongside your analysis.
- Have a good understanding of project outputs and any implications.
- Ability to sense check and ensure findings are logically robust.
- Play a key role in the project team making recommendations to solve problems.
- Work with project teams to plan and organise project set ups and data requests including the contribution to proposals.
- You will be expected to work independently and prioritise your workload ensuring that all business systems are kept up to date.
- You will be required to demonstrate self-learning.
- Present results to clients in an engaging, clear and concise way.
- Ensure your outputs are fully auditable and repeatable whilst maintaining version control.
Requirements:
- A numerate degree with a mathematical, scientific, or engineering background.
- Demonstrable experience of working in a fast-paced analytics environment.
- Experience and / or training in statistics.
- Competent in using machine learning, mathematical modelling and visualisation tools for data analysis.
- Experience of using R in the workplace for data analysis and statistical modelling is advantageous, other similar languages would be considered.
- Confident use of various business and project systems such as Resource Management, SharePoint, Slack and Gitlab.
- You will be confident and proactive when managing tasks and deadlines.
- Work collaboratively with the team and wider business.
- Sound experience of technical report writing and verbally communicating results.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK.
Benefits:
This role will be 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, with the benefit of flexible working.
Salary: £32,000 - £45,000 depending on qualifications, skills and experience.
