Jolly Learning is a UK-based educational publisher of English literacy materials for primary-aged children. Our flagship programme, Jolly Phonics, teaches children to read and write using synthetic phonics, which is widely recognised as the most effective way to teach children to read and write in English.
Pre-press and Print Production Controller
Duties include:
Pre-press, file prep for full colour and mono titles
Print purchasing / negotiation, working with a worldwide supplier base
Schedule management from files to print to delivery
Inventory control and forward planning
Data management
Proof checking
Responsible for maintenance and management of asset archive
Raising print purchase orders
Invoice checking
Occasional safety testing
Skills required:
Pre-press / file prep skills, with Indesign and photoshop skills highly desirable
Excellent communication and production management skills
A solid understanding of 4c and mono print production processes
Able to work independently and on own initiative
Ability to trouble-shoot
Meticulous with an excellent eye for detail
Good team player
Experience of shipping and logistics
Knowledge of safety testing
Experience managing the manufacture of non-book product would be advantageous (e.g. soft toys, magnetic letters, e-reader pens, point of sale material)
Experience of co-edition print management would be advantageous
This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic print production professional looking for a busy and varied role in a small, friendly team. Pre-press / file prep skills are essential for this role. For the right candidate there is flexibility in print buying and production management experience required as these skills can be taught. This role may suit a mac operator from a print background who is keen to move into a publishing environment, expanding their role into print buying, production management, inventory control and shipping management.

Salary: £22,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
