Nectar360 is growing, and fast, which means providing high-quality data protection advice and joined up governance is more important and challenging than ever. It falls to us in Corporate Services to set the standard to make sure that happens. Our Data Governance teams work across different business areas to provide Data Protection advice and controls to enable the business to grow whilst maintaining compliance with regulations like the UK GDPR.
As a Data Protection Manager, you will support the Nectar Data Protection Officer in developing Nectar’s most ambitious marketing activities at pace and in compliance with data protection law. You’ll provide collaborative data protection advice on new and complex marketing products from inception through to contract.
You’ll need to collaborate to integrate new Nectar partners and suppliers into the Nectar ecosystem ensuring data protection best practice and privacy by design. You’ll assist in the design and implementation of legal and privacy controls across the business and support the Nectar DPO to promote privacy and embed a culture of privacy compliance, including through delivering training, and providing guidance at the Nectar Data Clinic.

- Reviewing contracts and agreements with retail partners and AdTech vendors to ensure they comply with data protection law
- Work cross-functionally to assist with the integration of new partners and vendors, designing processes to reduce friction
- Keep up-to-date with emerging trends and regulations in data protection law and how they affect Nectar 360’s business
- Perform regular risk assessment and monitoring activities to identify potential areas where Nectar and the broader Group may be exposed to legal data protection & privacy related risks
- Conduct ongoing privacy training and awareness activities to ensure staff understand their legal and privacy obligations
- Complete Data Protection Impact Assessments and ROPAs for relevant processing activities
- Provide regular reports and status updates to key stakeholders and networks with data protection and privacy colleagues to support prominence of data protection issues in the business
- Assist in ensuring the business complies with all relevant data protection and privacy legislation
- Contribute to the Group DPO forum and assist in monitoring relevant ICO guidance / enforcement action / case law and keep the organisation advised as to their impact
- Manage and support the Privacy Team in delivering compliant and high-quality responses to Data Subjects seeking to exercise their rights under data protection legislation
More about you
You will:
- Have a working knowledge of digital marketing and AdTech or a demonstrable ability and desire to learn quickly and remain inquisitive
- Have a legal qualification or data protection experience/recognised data protection qualification
- Have experience of advising on digital advertising or tech from a data protection perspective or similar (this is desirable rather than essential)
- Be experienced in working cross-functionally across complex organisational structures
- Have the ability to work independently or as part of a team to achieve targets
- Be personable, credible, with excellent negotiation skills and be able to influence a broad range of stakeholders
- Have good communication and analytical skills, with the ability to apply technical data protection issues to a business context, and translate them into clear, concise business language that is easily understandable by non-technical audiences
- Have an aptitude for project management, with a keen eye for detail and a structured, organised approach to problem-solving that delivers high-quality results and drives successful project outcomes
- Be able to prioritise and work strategically
