We are looking for a Data Journalist to support the delivery of customer insight and PR-led media coverage about HSBC UK, through sourcing and analysing data to build a continual pipeline of news. You will work with the Head of WPB UK Communications, Head of Media Relations to build a content pipeline based on our content priorities, to support the strategic narrative of the business and emphasise our focus on customers.

In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Working collaboratively with colleagues in the WPB UK and broader UK communications team to ensure seamless delivery of communications activities
- Working closely with UK Data & Analytics team and WPB UK Customer Insights team to drive effective collaboration and build a compelling data-led narrative
- Ability to scan across planned business and communications activities to identify areas to leverage data for PR
- Supporting the development of more junior team members
- Take an active interest in priorities and activities of individual lines of business and Group Communications team
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Proven ability to understand business issues and devise communication solutions that deliver results, constructing fresh approaches where appropriate and making connections to other issues.
- Significant experience in handling and analysing data, with experience in using Looker or similar systems
- A proven track record in developing, managing and implementing communication plans, translating into solid and practical delivery programmes
- Excellent understanding of data protection rules, systems and requirements is essential
The base location for this role is Birmingham, UK. You will be expected to attend the office regularly.
